“The man, who has no sense of history, is a man who has no ears or eyes” - Adolf Hitler. Keeping that statement in mind, a Huge number of fans of the TV series ‘Chandragupta Maurya’, which was being aired on Imagine TV in India, have sought telecasting of the serial.
The serial ‘Chandragupta Maurya’ (CGM), presents a sensational and optimum entertaining story about the heroic rising of a regular slave to the highest position of a state. The state is the then India which was geographically enough larger than the present real India of 2012.
Chandragupta’s the then empire which was extended in the Far East from ‘Pataliputra’, the modern Patna, to Afghanistan and Baluchistan in the west and to Kashmir and Nepal in the north to the Deccan Plateau in the south.
The Mauryans had actually ruled in the Iron Age from 321 to 185 BC. Interesting fact is that, the then social and political arrangement was so much perfect that in today’s India we are not even enjoying a minimal ratio of that.
Exactly we want to tell that the serial is not only a work of fiction but it also teaches several important social and political norms which can be followed even today to reap maximum benefit.
So, at a time when we are pressed to watch so many TV serials which have nothing in it either regarding teaching or in respect of entertainment, is it not good enough to make return such an soothing serial like CGM?
The serial also depicts the tale of the emperor’s struggle to bring in a randomly scattered geographical plateau under one umbrella. Think properly one also needs to unify the social customs, traditions, habits and practices to make them remain under one authority.
And, here winning the mental approval of the subjects is more important than the mere exercise of power, which the great emperor had done. Is that not a great thing to learn?
On the other hand, come to the many serials where viewers are only made fool by showing a Hitler ‘Saas’ and her so called ideal ‘bahu’ who together consume thousands of episodes and gives nothing; neither entertainment nor moral. So, if we are investing our time in watching a serial like CGM, is it not wiser?
However, these serials are still good. But sometimes an item girl comes in a serial to provide justice who stupidly says, ‘Mein tum ko insaaf dungi’ (I will provide you justice). Is it not contempt of court? Is our condition that much miserable that we need to sought justice from an item girl while we have an honorable judicial system in the country?
The serial is also a must-see event at least for the Indians as it also evokes a sense of pride and nostalgia. More than that Chanakya, the king-maker character of the history was a rare person who had extraordinary wisdom with him in Economics, Politics and Socialism. The serial is full of outstanding lessons from this great personality of ancient India. I think I have said enough to convince you that CGM is one of the best serials.
Yes, many people across the world believe this way and that is why the serial has a huge number of fans following. But unfortunately in lieu of a business decision Imagine TV; which was working under Turner Broadcasting, US, was closed in India leading to the closure of airing CGM.
But thanks to the huge number of fans of the serial who are on the verge of making their favorite serial return. Media has highlighted several times and one can very well see the wide support online in this context. In this nexus, an online Facebook page named ‘Save Chandragupta Maurya Show’ emerged to exhibit fans’ great interest for the show.
But almost three months have passed and still there is no concrete news about coming back of the serial. After Imagine TV’s wind up, producers of CGM requested Sony Entertainment Television to telecast the show.
Although we does not have any confirm news, our sources have intimated that Sony is interested for the same, but as Imagine TV or Turner Broadcasting has not issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC), the serial is not getting legal status to be accepted and telecast by another channel.
Udit Rajpara, one admin of the ‘Save Chandragupta Maurya Show’ page (Who is also leading the protest) has informed that, “despite our best efforts so far no one even bothered to reply us, for which viewers are getting very angry on channels now by seeing this evil (only profit making side, ignoring all other aspects) of channels who don’t even reply to their loyal viewers.”
Rajpara said, “Everyday hundreds of fans call Turners Broadcasting (imagine) but they are not giving proper reply for NOC – the no objection certificate. So it is high time now and hence first herewith we appeal the Information and Broadcasting Ministry of India to look into the issue to save the glory of India and take necessary action to make the previous telecasting channel issue a NOC as soon as possible.
Also, herewith we appeal the International Press Community to help the huge number of fans to get back their ideal serial.
Rajpara has also informed that the fans are all set to organize a rally at the India Gate in New Delhi and at the Eden Garden in Kolkata during the evening hours on 15th July 2012 for a demand to make necessary steps to air ‘Chandragupta Maurya’ show in India.
