Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai! - A Review

Dal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai’ is not that much a great film to be discussed at length. It neither has any innovative storyline to attract the audience nor is it supported by any memorable acting.

The film revolves around the character of a budding actress that is played by Veena Mallick who just wants to grab her old boy-friend’s wealth. After watching the film it seems as if the film had just the intention to encase the publicity of the Pakistani model cum actress who is best known for her cheap publicity stunts.

‘Dal mein Kuch kala hei’ is not a low budget film. It stars many Bollywood veterans like Jackie Shroff, Shakti Kapoor, Sudesh Berry and Aman Verma along with Vijay Raaz, Bobby Darling and Raja chaudhary. But they have not got any scope to present an ideal acting to be appreciated.

The most discouraging factor is, even both of the lead actors Anand Balraj himself, who has played the character Mr.Dabu and Veena Mallick, who has played the character of the budding actress have overacted in many shots. Director Anand Balraj is the actor who, if you remember used to play side villain in many 80's and 90's film.

Plot of the film is that Veena, the actress wants to con one Mr. Dabu (Anand Balraj), a 40+ man who has become rich after hitting a roll-over prize of birthright for money. Further, the man is madly in love with her and wants to make a film.

But Veena wants to grab his wealth, which he has in cash. Accordingly she plans with her boyfriend to rip off Mr. Dabu and manages to make him agree to travel to a lone island. On the way to the island the odd couple is stopped by a big storm and is forced to spend night in a palace that is haunted by a soul, played by Veena as her double role. Some more people also follow the couple for money and the girl.

The film is an unsuccessful attempt.  Clearly, the sex approach of the controversial actress has been rejected by the audience. The film also does not have any other interesting aspect to be remembered.

Our rating for ‘Dal mein kuch kaala hei’ is one star out of five.
